|
|
I read about the Dyson DC25 "Animal" vacuum cleaner being clearanced at Target stores. (fatwallet or slickdeals).
The vac is normally about $500 and is supposed to be clearanced for 50% off.
I had Roni look around earlier this week but could not find the deal so it may only be in certain parts of the country.
I will be checking this week.
The reviews that I have read are good but I don't know what consumer reports may have to say about this or any other vac.
I just think they are cool.

We have a dyson basic model, which is decent, but we only paid $80 for it. I can't recall the model #. _________________ Bryan Burnworth

I have checked the two local Target stores and neither of them have the mark downs.
I think I noted that the regular DC24 is mis-marked at one of the Target stores compared to Walmart. I will verify pricing today. I also think the electronics mark downs are done today. _________________ Jim

It turns out it was the DC17 Animal.
We just got back from Target and scored the Dyson DC17 Animal for $274.50. (50% off).
Target at East Point, GA.
I-285 and Camp Creek Parkway.
Two more remaining in the store on the end cap.

Jim, I'd say check back next week to see if they hit 75% off. Buy another one then and return the new one with your 50% off receipt. _________________ Bryan Burnworth

Geez, you never stop thinking! You probably scare stores like buffets are scared of the fat dudes. |

Ours is the DC18 slim.
I gave it a good cleaning today. The beater brush had "carpet string" all wrapped up on it. No wonder why Amy hates when I use it on the cheap garage carpet. They are very easy to take apart for a good cleaning.
On our old Sears canister, I took it apart and removed the string from the beater brush on that one too. Works much better.
So now I am banned from using the Dyson on the garage carpet again. _________________ Bryan Burnworth

The Dyson 24 Blueprint at Target in East Point is marked down 30% to $324.00. I do not see it on their website, but it is like this one at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I had gone there today to get the DC17 Animal at 75% off if they had it - of course they did not... _________________ Jim

Ok Jim you talked me into upgrading.
Lowes had the Dyson DC 28 for $299 online price only. They sold out quickly online. Amy went to Lowes and got them to match the online price.
Its a big biatch and pulls hard on the carpet.
See this review.
I told Amy what the review had stated about it being harder to pull. After she tried it she said, "They must be weak." She did not find it difficult to operate. The older Dyson does maneuver easier.
Amy had just vac'd on Sunday. I went over the hallway, bedroom and living room w/ the new Dyson. The canister had more dirt, ect then I expected.
Pro's over the DC 18 slim:
Mo' power
The cord is approx 50% longer.
The expandable hose is longer.
When you pull on the hose, the heavier DC 28 does not tip over.
More attachments including a car carpet cleaner. (boy did I get the evil eye when I mentioned that. )
Cons:
Heavier
Less maneuverable.
Can't use on small area rugs. (too powerful but they do include and attachment that will work)
Side by side:

That's cool Bryan.
I like the DC17 Animal we have. There are a few things I am getting used to still.
It is heavy, although the brushes help to pull it along on the carpet.
I've never had an upright before so the whole extend-a-hose thing is kind of a pain. I'm sure I will get used to it.
You can't get under things with the big cleaning head on this like you can with a canister-type machine.
The cord is long - I like that.
I was not impressed with the instructions on how to actually put it together out of the box. There was also no hint on what to do the accessories or how to use them.
Overall, this was a great buy and it certainly cleans really well. _________________ Jim
